Programming is a creative and interesting process. It is not always necessary to know languages in order to create programs. What tool is needed to create programs? You need a programming environment. With its help, your commands are translated into binary code understandable to the computer. But there are a lot of languages, and even more programming environments. We will consider a list of programs for creating programs.

PascalABC.NET is a simple free development environment for the Pascal language. It is it that is most often used in schools and universities for teaching. This program in Russian will allow you to create projects of any complexity. The code editor will prompt and help you, and the compiler will point out errors. Possesses high speed u program execution.

The advantage of using the Pascal language is that it is object-oriented programming. OOP is much more convenient than procedural programming, although it is more voluminous.

Unfortunately, PascalABC.NET is a little demanding on computer resources and may freeze on older machines.

Free Pascal

Free Pascal is a cross-platform compiler, not a programming environment. With it, you can check the program for correct spelling, as well as run it. But you won't be able to compile it to .exe. Free Pascal has a fast execution speed as well as a simple and clear interface.

Just like in many similar programs, the Free Pascal code editor can help the programmer by completing the writing of commands for him.

Its disadvantage is that the compiler can only determine whether there are errors or not. It does not highlight the line where the error is made, so the user has to look for it himself.

TurboPascal

Almost the first tool for creating programs on a computer is Turbo Pascal. This programming environment is designed for the operating DOS systems and to run it on Windows you need to install additional software. The Russian language is supported, it has a high speed of execution and compilation.

Turbo Pascal has such interesting feature like tracing. In trace mode, you can watch the program work step by step and follow the data changes. This will help to detect errors, which are the hardest to find - logical errors.

Although Turbo Pascal is simple and reliable to use, it is still slightly outdated: created in 1996, Turbo Pascal is only relevant for one OS - DOS.

This is a visual programming environment in Pascal. Its convenient, intuitive interface makes it easy to create programs with minimal knowledge of the language. Lazarus is almost completely compatible with the Delphi programming language.

Unlike Algorithm and HiAsm, Lazarus still assumes knowledge of the language, in our case Pascal. Here you not only assemble the program piece by piece with the mouse, but also write the code for each element. This allows you to better understand the processes taking place in the program.

Lazarus allows you to use a graphic module with which you can work with images as well as create games.

Unfortunately, if you have any questions, you will have to look for answers on the Internet, since Lazarus does not have documentation.

HiAsm

HiAsm is a free constructor that is available in Russian. You do not need to know the language to create programs - here you just assemble it piece by piece, like a designer. There are many components available here, but you can expand their range by installing add-ons.

Unlike the Algorithm, this is a graphical programming environment. Everything that you will create will be displayed on the screen in the form of a picture and a diagram, not a code. This is quite convenient, although some text entry like more.

HiAsm is quite powerful and has a high program execution speed. This is especially important when creating games, when a graphics module is used, which significantly slows down the work. But for HiAsm this is not a problem.

The algorithm is an environment for creating programs in Russian, one of the few. Its peculiarity is that it uses text-based visual programming. This means that you can create a program without knowing the language. An algorithm is a constructor that has a large set of components. You can find information about each component in the program documentation.

Also, the Algorithm allows you to work with the graphics module, but applications using graphics will take quite a long time to run.

IN free version you can compile a project from .alg to .exe only on the developer's site and only 3 times a day. This is one of the main disadvantages. You can purchase a licensed version and compile projects right in the program.

IntelliJ IDEA is one of the most popular cross-platform IDEs. This environment has a free version, a slightly limited version, and a paid version. For most programmers, the free version is enough. It has a powerful code editor that will fix errors and complete the code for you. If you make a mistake, the environment informs you about it and offers possible solutions. It's an intelligent development environment that anticipates your actions.

Another handy feature in InteliiJ IDEA is automatic control memory. The so-called "garbage collector" constantly monitors the memory that is allocated for the program, and, in the case when the memory is no longer needed, the collector frees it.

But everything has downsides. A slightly confusing interface is one of the problems that beginner programmers face. It is also obvious that such a powerful medium has rather high system requirements for correct operation.

Most often, Eclipse is used to work with the Java programming language, but it also supports other languages. It is one of the main competitors of IntelliJ IDEA. The difference between Eclipse and him similar programs in that you can install various add-ons to it and it can be completely customized for yourself.

Eclipse also has a high compilation and execution speed. You can run every program created in this environment on any operating system, since Java is a cross-platform language.

The difference between Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA is the interface. In Eclipse, it is much simpler and clearer, which makes it more convenient for beginners.

But also, like all IDEs for Java, Eclipse still has its own system requirements, so it will not work on every computer. Although not such perishing these requirements and high.

It is impossible to say with certainty which program for creating programs is the best. You must select a language and then try each environment for it. After all, each IDE is different and has its own characteristics. Who knows which one you'll like more.

Creating a to-do list and tasks is a very useful habit. In the era of computers, smartphones and tablets, these are no longer crumpled pieces of paper with notes written in a hurry, which are easy to lose. To-do lists in electronic form are convenient to sort, categorize and assign labels to them, as well as set up reminders. To-do lists or todo-lists are a handy thing that simplifies everyday life.

In this article, CHIP will take a look at the most popular to-do list management applications - for computers, mobile devices and their online counterparts. Interestingly, there are not so many applications for creating and storing to-do lists for PC. Most of these programs are either mobile applications or web services.

This is explained very easily: a modern active person should be able to manage his affairs and tasks anywhere and at any time, and not just when he is at his computer. It is quite logical that both the director of the company and the housewife will want to have their own list of tasks "in their pocket" to look into it while in a traffic jam, in a children's clinic or in between meetings or meetings.

In addition, a very important function of some services and applications is to notify other users involved in the execution of the task about the intended event.

4 Problems for the pros

Puzzles for the pros - Doit.im

Name: Doit.im
Website: doit.im
Price: free (Pro-version - $20 per year)
Platform: Windows, Mac, iOS, Android

This online service is a universal solution for various platforms. You can work in the scheduler through programs for Windows and Mac, or using mobile applications for Android and iOS. Bes paid version for PC is implemented as a web service or plug-in for Firefox browsers Safari, Chrome. The paid Pro version of Doit.im has client applications for Windows and Mac OS.

If you use the paid Pro version, the Doit.im service ensures synchronization of to-do lists between all devices on which the service is installed and connected. The program is built on the principles of using the well-known Get Things Done (GTD) ideology, so here you will find contexts, goals and other elements of this time management system. Doit.im users can complete the lists in full and short mode.

In the second case, only the name of the task is entered, and in the full mode, the date, place, folder, priority and tags are indicated. The program provides a convenient sorting of tasks according to various criteria, including end time, place, project or priorities. There is also a selection by tags. Depending on the date and priority, the tasks will be automatically placed in the appropriate folders. For example, "Tomorrow" is a folder with tasks that need to be completed the next day. The program provides geotags - an indication of the places where the task is performed.

For certain tasks that can be completed when a certain condition is met, Doit.im has a special list called "waiting list". Another feature of Doit.im is the presence of a special section of goals and contexts.

Contexts are, to a certain extent, analogues of geolocation tags, but more universal. The context can be "work" - tasks that can be performed when the user is at the workplace, "home" - tasks related to household chores, "computer" - tasks that are worth doing on a PC, etc.

Pros: Multi-platform, synchronization between devices

Minuses: Confusing interface, difficult to master for those who are not familiar with Get Things Done

5 Simple to-do list manager

Simple To Do List Manager - Wunderlist

wunderlist

Website: www.wunderlist.com
Price: for free
Platform: Windows, Mac, iOS, Android

Wunderlist is implemented as mobile application and also has a web version. Tasks in Wunderlist are saved in lists. Unfortunately, this is the only post categorization tool available to users service. Tags or categories are not supported on the web. A certain compensation for this shortcoming is the convenient addition and editing of tasks in Wunderlist. P

When editing a task, you can add start dates and reminders, set a recurrence interval for recurring tasks, add subtasks and text notes. Individual tasks can be marked as highlighted - probably, this is how the authors of the service suggest highlighting the most important tasks from the general list. In addition, Wunderlist users have access to a simple ordering of the list of tasks - you can swap them with a simple drag and drop.

On the left side of the screen there are lists - both user-created and standard: Inbox (relevant), Starred (marked), Today (scheduled for today), Week (scheduled for the week). If the user needs a simple list of tasks, without special category settings, Wunderlist can be recommended. For those who can't do without categories, Wunderlist is hardly suitable.

Pros: Ease of use, multi-platform

Minuses: No usual categories and tags

6 Online manager

Online manager - TODOist

TODOist

Website: todoist.com
Price: for free
Platform: online service

Online service TODOist.com has a minimal set of functions for managing tasks. At the same time, it can be used as a powerful personal productivity tool. Its only drawback is that many settings and functions of the service are available using the built-in commands of the service. For example, adding a date to the task name preceded by the "@" symbol will automatically assign a date to the task.

Labels in TODOist must also begin with the "@" symbol. In addition, the service supports a variety of hotkeys that simplify task management. To group tasks in TODOist, there are projects. To sort tasks in TODOist, specially formulated queries are used, which can be entered in the query input field.

In this way, you can select tasks scheduled for the next day. To do this, just enter the request "tomorrow" or tasks for the next 5 days - in this case, the request will look like "5 days". An added advantage TODOist is the use of plugins for Google browsers Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. With these plugins, you can display a panel with a list of tasks as a browser sidebar, and you can add new tasks through a button located on the TODOist toolbar.

In addition to the free one, there is also a commercial version of TODOist that costs about 70 rubles. per month or 1100 rubles. in year. Users of paid versions can add comments to their tasks, receive SMS reminders, export tasks to Google Calendar or Outlook.

Pros: Simple interface, the ability to use browser plugins

Minuses: Difficult to get used to using hotkeys and special system syntax

Lists of used sources have to be used quite often. Students write term papers and diplomas, undergraduates, graduate students and doctoral students write dissertations. Researchers write articles and reports and much more. I am sure that each of the readers at least once in their life had to compile a reference list of references and indicate references to literature in the text.

When creating an article on the Web, you can insert hyperlinks to sources directly in the text, or add a bulleted list in the "footer", in which these sources and any literature recommended for reading will be listed in random order. However, in the scientific community and in the education system, strict (and sometimes contradictory) requirements are imposed on the rule for compiling such lists, and complying with them manually is a chore and thankless task.
In this article, I will share my experience of automating the creation of a list of used sources using Mendeley. When writing texts, I use MS Word 2007 because the employer bought it better. All of the following can be repeated in Open Office.

What did not please me with the built-in MS Word tools for creating bibliography?

In fact, starting from version 2007, MS Word has a built-in mechanism for generating lists of references, which even supports (supposedly) GOST.

In theory, everything is simple - you enter all the literature used in the database and then refer to it as needed. Have a list at the end of the document. Links in the required format will be scattered throughout the text. But in practice, everything is more difficult. Firstly, the user needs to enter all the sources of literature used, filling in all the fields of the form for this.

To make a dozen works is not a small work. To fill in a database of hundreds of items is the risk of a nervous breakdown. For some reason, a database search did not find anything worthwhile for me. However, all the work will still be in vain, because the built-in template is far from GOST. Not even the notorious square brackets. However, the last problem is treated by editing the template.

So, what did not suit me in Word:

Mendeley works like this: you create your own account, download and install software, and create your own database of source cards. It is also useful to download and install a plugin for MS Word (or Open Office).

Adding Literature Links with a Plugin for MS Word

You can also use a browser plug-in, which sometimes makes it easier to add sources found on the Internet.

By dragging an object found on the network, you can get a ready-made card in Mendeley. And you may not get it. In any case, edit the cards obtained with the help of the plug-in in the browser very carefully.

By installing the desktop version or logging into your account through a browser, you can use the search in the database of already created cards. True, the search practically does not work with Russian-language publications, but it almost always finds foreign literature, and it is rarely necessary to enter it manually. The cards found on the network can be added to yourself and edited (it is worth checking other people's cards for errors and incomplete filling - I came across cards filled with inattentive lazy people. In any case, editing the finished one is easier than filling it all out yourself).

Screenshot of Mendeley Decktop at work

However, even if the search in Mendeley's internal database did not bring results, you should not rush to fill out the card manually. We go to Google Academy and try to find the required source there. If the source is found, then we find the link “Import to BibTeX” under it, save the object using the link as a file and open it with the Mendeley Desktop program. As a rule, we receive a half-filled source card. Editing such a card is easier than filling it out manually.

An example of how to get finished file BibTeX via Google Academy

As for the link formatting templates and the list of references itself, in addition to the huge number of templates already installed by default, you can add your own. These templates are not written randomly, but in a special "citation style language" Citation Style Language (CSL), which in turn is based on XML.

I will not provide links to specific templates that I use in my work, as I am not sure that they are the most successful. Let me just say that the requirements of Russian scientific publishers, foreign publishers, dissertation councils, and so on and so forth differ significantly, but so far I have been able to find a good template for each of them.

General algorithm for using the Mendeley system

  1. Register, download software, install plugins
  2. We create the necessary folders (for example, "Coursework", "Diploma", "Scientific Report", etc.) as desired
  3. We are looking for the necessary literature in the search and dragging the necessary cards to our folder
  4. If something was not found in Mendeley, we search in Google or somewhere else, open the saved BibTeX files and add them to our folder
  5. Checking the correctness of the found cards
  6. If nothing was found anywhere - create a new card and fill it in manually, if desired / necessary, attach the file of the article itself
  7. We open the text of our future work in MS Word / Open Office and add links in the right places, select a list formatting template and add a list of sources at the end of the document
  8. We carefully review the list of sources received. If something went wrong, edit the source cards, or edit / discard the template and look for / write a new one
  9. We are happy with the result
As a rule, the same sources can be used in different articles, dissertations, scientific reports, etc. Once you add it to your profile, you will receive a link to it in a few mouse clicks.

Mendeley as Literary Search Assistant

In addition to being a quick and easy way to create lists of references, Mendeley also aids in literature searches by allowing you to find “related articles” as well as search by author, keywords etc.

Filling out the Mendeley profile implies some similarity social network for scientific workers. There is also the possibility teamwork, but so far I have not been able to convince colleagues to use this system (maybe this article will help), so there is no experience of such work.

Mendeley allows you to store not only the bibliographic data of articles and their abstracts, but also to attach pdf files with the full text. And also download full-text versions of those articles that other participants in the system have posted in the public domain.

You can study the functionality and interface of the system with the help of training videos and a well-written (though in English).

Other Useful Features of Mendeley

  • The presence of a plug-in for Open Office (I personally did not check its performance)
  • The ability to flexibly customize a lot of things besides bibliography styles (for example, the order in which files are stored on disk)
  • Ability to integrate with similar systems, primarily Zatero
  • You can store cards of your own publications and hope that other users of the system will find them when searching for keywords, use, refer to and increase your citation index
  • There is a version of Mendeley Desktop not only for Windows, but also for Linux and MacOS
  • There is a mobile application for iPhone
  • API published

Disadvantages of Mendeley

Some shortcomings can be called "features", but I will not use this trick.
  • Literature search does not work with Russian-language sources (get ready to enter them manually)
  • Even the desktop version requires an internet connection. Offline mode is not provided
  • You need to register, create an account and work with it
  • If your document has links to 100 or more sources of literature and you have made an edit (added another source, opened the link for editing), get ready for some slowdowns in MS Word
  • Possibilities free account limited: the amount of storage of full-text versions of articles, the number of working groups and the number of group members. (However, I do not link pdf files to all the articles I work with, and I keep most of them separately, which allows me to freely use a free account)
  • No app for Android and other non-apple mobile platforms

Conclusion

Mendeley can be useful to students, graduate students, researchers and just about anyone. Spending a little time learning this system can save you a lot of nerves when working with reference lists, especially when you have to swap two subsections in a carefully calibrated document and the manually cleaned reference numbering system goes to dust.

This article does not claim to be a complete and comprehensive overview of the Mendeley system and is intended only to draw the attention of interested persons to the use of such automation tools. The author personally knows many eminent scientists (including those from the field of technical sciences) who still spend precious time compiling a list of references manually.

Some users, when working on a computer, need to get a list of files in a folder. Such a list may be needed for various purposes: for cataloging files in folders, for comparing the contents of folders, in order to compile a list of films, musical compositions, e-books and so on.

In many cases, the number of files can be very large, so manually compiling full list files in the folder will be problematic. Suppose you have an electronic library in a folder on your computer, or you have a large collection of films. Even an enthusiastic person will not be able to remember all the contents of a folder or disk.

The way out of this situation is to create a list of files in this folder, and then save this list to a text file. In the future, the resulting list can be edited as needed.

For example, I have a large collection of movies that I have collected over several years on external hard drives, each of which is several terabytes in size. Of course, it's hard for me to remember all the names of films that are stored on hard drives.

When I meet a movie on the Internet, having a list of files in a folder, I can easily check if I have such a movie in my collection, or if I have met a new movie. So I started looking for a solution to this issue.

As a result, I found several simple solutions to this problem. You can create a list of files in a folder different ways: with help command line, using a file that has the extension ".bat", using special programs, save the list in the browser.

Saving a list of files using the command line

First you will need to navigate to the desired folder or drive if you want to get a list of files that are on the drive. After opening a folder or drive, hold down the "Shift" button on your keyboard and click right click mouse inside this folder. In the opened context menu select "Open Command Window".

After that, a console window will open, in which the path to the desired directory will already be indicated (in your case, it will be to the folder that you open). In this example, this is the Applications folder on my computer's desktop. This folder contains other folders that contain program shortcuts.

dir /b>filelist.txt dir /s>filelist.txt

There must be a space after entering "dir". Instead of "filelist", you can write your file name, only in Latin letters. Don't forget to add the ".txt" format at the end.

These commands differ from each other in the use of additional criteria for saving a list of files:

  • /b - indicates that only filenames will be saved.
  • /s - means that all files and subdirectories (subfolders) that are in this folder will be additionally included in the list.

Then press the "Enter" button on the keyboard.

After that, you can open the folder and see that there is a text file "filelist" in the folder. Now you can open this file with Notepad.

If some files in this folder had Russian names, then instead of the names of these files, you will see incomprehensible characters(kryakozyabry). The fact is that the Notepad program does not understand the MS-DOS encoding.

Therefore, you can open the created file using Word. I assume that most users have this program installed on their computer.

Click on text file right-click, and then select "Open With" from the context menu. Choose a program to open the file Microsoft office word. In the Word program window, the "Text Conversion" window will open, in which you will need to select the MS-DOS encoding that will allow you to read this document.

On the sample you will see correct display text.

After clicking on the "OK" button, given text will be open in Word program. You can edit the document, and then save it to your computer in the desired format, including the "TXT" format. There will be no problems with encoding after saving the file.

Getting a list of files in a folder using a bat file

One of the most accessible and simple ways getting a list of files in a folder: use a special bat file for this. There are several options for creating a file with the ".bat" extension, with different code.
To create a bat file, you will need to open Notepad and then paste this code there:

Chcp 1251 echo %date% %time% >filelist.txt dir /b /d >>filelist.txt

Save this file, you can give the file any name, the file itself must be given the extension "BAT". The options for saving the file in Notepad will look something like this:

  • Filename: filelist.bat
  • File Type: All Files

Next, place the created file in the folder from which you want to get a list of files located there. After that, run the file with the ".bat" extension. In this folder, a “filelist” file will be created in the “.txt” format, which will contain a list of files.

There are several options for the contents of a file with the ".bat" extension. When using this method, there will be no encoding problems.

DirLister program for listing files

You can create a list of files in a folder with free program Dir Lister. This tiny program does not require installation on your computer. After downloading the program to your computer, unzip the archive with the program.

DirLister download

To launch the program, open the folder with the program, and then click on the DirLister application.

In the DirLister program window, in the "Directory To Scan" section, using the "Open" button, you will need to select a folder to scan.

In the "Output File" section, using the "Save As ..." button, you will need to select a location to save the list of files.

You can refine the search criteria for files using the “*.*” mask by selecting the desired file name or type (“TXT”, “Excel”, “HTML”, etc.). After choosing the necessary settings, click on the "Make List" button.

After the scan is completed, in the lower left corner of the program, information about the successful completion of the creation of the list of files will be displayed: "All file processed correctly".

The DirLister program displays not only a list of files in a given folder, but also gives full information about the files and folders nested in this folder, including the size of the files.

Getting a list of files in Total Commander

You can get a list of files in a folder using the popular file manager Total Commander. To do this, open the desired folder in the program window.

In the "Select" menu, first choose "Select All". After all the files have been selected, in the same menu, select the "Copy names to clipboard" item.

Then open Notepad or another text editor, and paste the list of files from the clipboard there.

You can select "Save selection to file..." from the "Select" menu. In this case, you will need to give the file a name and then save it in "txt" format.

Saving a list of files in a folder in the browser

You can get a list of files in a folder using a browser. First open the browser and then drag the folder to the browser window. The list of files will open in a browser window. You will be able to navigate between content as you would in Explorer.

Article Conclusions

Using these fairly simple methods, you can easily create a list of files that are in a specific folder or drive on your computer. You can use the most convenient way for you to save the list of files.

3 Ways to List Files in a Folder (Video)

It can often be difficult to remember all the things that you have to do, especially if there are a lot of them. Finding a mobile application that can help with this task is also not easy, but this article will tell you which program to choose.

There is no shortage of to-do list apps, we will try to choose the ones that perform the basic functions best. Such programs should make it easy to add new tasks to the list, see what needs to be done and when. In addition, despite the merits of applications, if their interface has not been updated since the version of the operating Android systems Gingerbread, they cannot be recommended for installation.

Minimal Apps

And

On basic level you just need to create reminders of what needs to be done. For this, note-taking apps, of which there are dozens, or even hundreds or thousands, in the store, and which can be synchronized with Google Tasks to create to-do lists, may well be enough.

However, there are arguments in favor of choosing the options from Google: Keep or Inbox. This is their cross-platform and the presence of web components that other applications do not have. Both options allow you to set a reminder for a specific time or place, which is surprisingly difficult to find in free apps. All the programs on this list allow you to create reminders with a time setting, but none gives you the opportunity to link reminders to a location for free, and some do not even know how to do this for money.

Keep and Inbox have widgets for quick creation reminders and integration with voice commands Google Now. Gmail users can receive reminders mailbox, which allows you to do Inbox.

There are options for simple applications that have widgets and options for simple organization and list creation. As mentioned above, such applications do not have a number of functions or they are paid. The choice comes down to finding programs that have all the free features you want and those that you're willing to pay for.

Todoist has been praised for its quality design for adding new tasks and a widget to home screen. Todoist has an integrated "karma" system that turns the experience into a game by giving points for completing tasks, which can motivate users. Todoist has integration with the IFTTT and Zapier apps.

The program offers an impressive list free features: Repeat due dates and subtasks, often available in paid versions in other apps. Most users won't need the paid version of Todoist, it costs $28.99 per year and provides reminders (including location-based), task logos, task notes, adding tasks by e-mail and automatic backup. The lack of reminders can be called the main drawback of the free version of Todoist. Daily notifications are given, but a specific notification time cannot be set.

Any.do has a more minimalist design and is more aggressive in offering a paid version. Two features that stand out are: missed call notifications in a pop-up window, which allows you to put them in a list, immediately call back or send a message to the caller; Any.do Moment pops up in a window and prompts you to set tasks for the day. Any.do only gives out Moment for free five times a month, while the paid version costs $26.99 per year.

Any.do has a number of options that you have to pay for in Todoist, including recurring tasks, adding tasks via email, and task notes. You'll have to pay for location-based reminders, file attachments, and customization options for recurring tasks. Any.do does not have integration with IFTTT and other similar apps.

Wunderlist received best set free features, but the design of the program is quite simple, even after last year's update. Wunderlist is not as pleasant to use as Todoist or Any.do, but if you need to use a wide range of functions, you will have to suffer this drawback. Wunderlist gives free reminders, recurring reminders, subtasks, shared tasks, attachments, add tasks by mail, smart lists with tasks for the day or for the week. Some of the most important tasks can be identified.
