Have you noticed that while entering data on sites, or more precisely, passwords, a window is displayed in the upper right corner of the browser where you are prompted to save passwords? So, this is the autocomplete feature for Google Chrome. It should be noted that very useful feature, which allows you to save all your login details on various sites and not enter them in the future. Thus, you can save a significant amount of time on entering these same data.

How to save password in google chrome

If you do not want to constantly enter your username and password on certain sites, you can use the autofill function. To do this, simply go to the desired site, enter your details and click the login button. You will see a corresponding window in which the browser will offer to save data for further login to your account. Click the "Save" button and that's it. Now, the login form will be filled in automatically and all you have to do is click on the login button.

Advice: If the window with the suggestion to save autocomplete is not displayed, then click the key icon in the right corner of the address bar.

If not, then this option may simply be disabled. See below for how to enable it.

How to enable or disable autocomplete fields in Chrome

This function is active in the browser initially, and if you have not changed anything in it, then it should fully work. If it is not there, or you accidentally turned it off, then follow the instructions to activate it again.

  1. Go to settings (chrome://settings/). To do this, left-click on the browser menu icon located to the right of the address bar. From this drop-down menu, select Settings.
  2. Scroll down the settings page and click on the link called “Advanced” at the bottom of the page to expand all browser settings.
  3. Find the tab called "Passwords and Forms". There is an item "Configure autocomplete". Expand it and follow the instructions below.
  4. In the window that opens, find the switch and the inscription opposite it - OFF. If it is disabled, click on it to enable it.
  5. After these steps, autocomplete will be enabled in Chrome and you can use it. By the way, in the same place you can delete already saved data, or delete existing ones. It is worth noting that you can save not only passwords, but also bank card data.

Be careful when using Chrome's autofill feature because hackers may be trying to intercept your data. To prevent this from happening, try not to climb on dubious sites and always use an antivirus.

Firefox and Chrome are known to be able to remember all the data that the user enters in the address bar, in the search bar, and even in individual fields on various sites. Browsers save these data in the memory of a computer (tablet or smartphone) and substitute them automatically the next time. This is called "autocomplete".

The system itself is very convenient and, as we know, saves a lot of time. We type a couple of characters, then the browser offers ready-made version(address, nickname, details and other data), on which you just need to click, tap or select from the keyboard, and you do not need to re-enter it.

However, over time, a significant part of such data loses its relevance and / or too many incorrect options are stored in the browser's memory (a symbol, a phrase is missing, etc.). Because of them, autocomplete stops working as it should, and incorrect options have to be deleted. As a rule, one by one and right click.

And if you need to “clean up” the autocomplete thoroughly, then this raises a problem. Since neither the settings nor the settings provide separate sections with lists of autocomplete options, from which all unnecessary / incorrect could be removed, so to speak, in bulk.

Therefore, if you need to tidy up the autocomplete of the browser, then you must either delete unnecessary options one at a time, or clear the entire search history, moreover, with the obligatory clearing of the data section for filling (the option is disabled by default). Actually, this will be discussed further. So:

how to remove individual wrong autocomplete in browser

...namely, in the address bar, in the search bar, and even in individual fields on various sites. Means:

in Chrome on a computer

  • using the up / down arrows from the keyboard, select an unnecessary line in the autocomplete list;
  • press the buttons Shift+Delete .

Recall that in order to open the autocomplete list in the search bar or in the form field on the site, you can not type anything, but simply put the cursor there and then press the down arrow on the keyboard.

how to clear autofill data in browser

how to disable the function of saving form data on sites in the browser

in Firefox

  • about:preferences#privacy and click Enter;
  • On the page " Privacy and protection" In chapter " Story» in the drop-down menu, first select the option « will use your history storage settings «;

There is an easy way to save 5-7 minutes of your life that you have to spend by registering on sites.

Many users do not trust and consider it unacceptable to transfer their passwords and other confidential information anywhere, and even more so to the browser.

Most likely, I am one of those distrustful users, but in some cases autocomplete is still very convenient - indeed, it turns out on any site in just 2 clicks.

If, when registering on the sites, you indicate the same e-mail address, first name, last name, phone number and residential address, then this method suits you.

How to autofill Yandex browser

I give below step by step instructions for browser autofill.

1) First you should open the browser settings:

  • click on button 1 in Fig. 1,
  • a menu will appear in which we click on the “Settings” option (2 in Fig. 1).
Rice. 1. Where are the Yandex browser settings

2) A long page with browser settings will open, which you need to scroll to the end and at the end click on the “Show additional settings» (Fig. 2).

Rice. 2. Towards Browser Autofill

3) Among the additional settings of the browser, we are looking for the option “Passwords and forms” (Fig. 3).

Rice. 3. Turn on browser autocomplete and go to settings

If there is no checkmark, then put it in front of the checkbox "Enable auto-completion of forms with one click" (1 in Fig. 3).

In principle, this is enough. Now, when you start the first registration on any site, the browser will remember this information. Further, when registering on another site, the browser will offer to fill in the text that was entered during the first registration. This is an automatic way to generate autocomplete.

I suggest doing the autocomplete manually. Then you can then edit the form with autocomplete, which is often convenient.

For manual autocomplete, click on the "Settings" button (2 in Fig. 3).

4) The "Autocomplete settings" form will appear (Fig. 4).

Rice. 4. Enter the postal address for subsequent autocomplete

As seen in fig. 4, you can "Add postal address ..." and "Add map". Honestly, bank card I do not recommend adding, especially if not one, but several people use the computer. Below we will fill in only the postal address.

To do this, click on the “Add mailing address” button to autofill Yandex browser.

After that, a window will pop up in the browser (Fig. 5), prompting you to enter frequently used information when filling out forms during registration on sites (name, date of birth, gender, e-mail, address, city, phone number, etc.).

Rice. 5. Complete all fields and click OK to save the form

At your discretion, fill in all the data (or not all - it's up to you). Let the address of residence and phone number are not often required when registering on resources, but it will be easier for you to place orders via the Internet (if you place them).

After completing the data entry, click the “OK” button to save the profile. On fig. Figure 6 shows that after that, the “Hope” form appeared (1 in Fig. 6).

Rice. 6. Created the form "Hope" for autofill

If your computer has more than one user, you can create multiple auto-fill profiles.

To do this, click on the "Add postal address" button (2 in Fig. 6). The second form "Irina" will appear, as shown in fig. 7.

How to change or delete the browser autofill form

First we look for the form in the browser, so:

  • go to "Settings" Yandex.Browser (Fig. 1),
  • click "Show advanced settings" (Fig. 2),
  • there we find the option "Passwords and Forms" (Fig. 3) and click "Configure" (2 in Fig. 3),
  • the "Autocomplete settings" window will appear (Fig. 7):
Rice. 7. You can change or delete the autofill form

To change some data, move the mouse to desired form, for example, "Hope" and click on the "Change" button (1 in Fig. 7).

To completely delete the form, you need to move the mouse to it, a cross will appear (2 in Fig. 7). We click on the cross and that's it, the browser autofill form has been removed.

Example of autocomplete when registering on the site

Now, when registering on Yandex sites, the browser will offer automatic filling in form fields. Autofill fields will be highlighted in yellow. This means that the browser has saved this information and offers to simply click on the saved options.

Yandex.Browser will only fill in the fields that are required to register on the site: if the site does not require your phone number, it will not be entered in any other field.

We open a site where you need to register. On fig. 8 is registration on the State Services website.

In the Name field, enter the first letter of your name. On fig. 8 when registering, I entered the letter "H". Then yellow fields appeared, in which the browser automatically substituted all the information that it had saved.

Rice. 8. When registering, enter the letter “H” in the “Name” field for auto-completion using the “Nadezhda” form

It remains to check whether everything is suitable for registration and click on the blue "Register" button.

It turns out registration on the site in 2 clicks:

  • I entered the first letter of my name "N", then Yandex browser automatically issued all the data from the "Hope" form.
  • Clicked on "Register".

Autocomplete some information

You may notice that when creating the form for autofill, it was not proposed to enter the last name and patronymic (Fig. 5).

However, some information is remembered by Yandex.Browser after it is entered into the form and the entered data is sent to the Yandex server (and saved there). Later, the browser will offer to automatically fill in this information in the appropriate fields during subsequent registrations on other sites.

How to disable Yandex browser autocomplete

  • We go to the "Settings" of Yandex.Browser (Fig. 1),
  • At the end of the settings page, click "Show advanced settings" (Fig. 2),
  • there we find the option "Passwords and forms" (Fig. 3),
  • uncheck the box next to "Enable auto-complete forms with one click" (1 in Fig. 3):
