Unfortunately, almost a year ago the developers software Xiaomi abandoned convenient way, which allowed the phone to “feed” a file with contacts via bluetooth. The whole procedure was carried out on a smartphone controlled by MIUIGlobal8.1 (Stable 8.1.8.0 MCEMIDI) based on Android 6.0.1 MMB29M.

Suppose you do not have the ability to synchronize contacts on your smartphone with your Google account and/or with account mi account. But at the same time, you have an address book file in .vcf format on your computer (or on another phone)

The algorithm of actions is very simple: in any way convenient for you, we copy the file with contacts to the Xioami Redmi 4 smartphone. Next, we go to Settings – System Applications – Contacts.

If you have absolutely new smartphone or the settings on it are reset to the factory settings, then no additional actions need to be taken on it. But in the case when there are already any contacts on the smartphone, just in case, it is better to save them in separate file, to avoid any conflicts with contacts from the imported .vcf file. The most common problem is the absence or displacement of fields in the contact card or the disappearance of the contact photo. The first often happens if the .vcf file was saved on some ancient device or was unsuccessfully processed in address book Google account. And the second happens all the time and we have not found a reasonable intelligible explanation. Even if the contacts had small photos, very often they disappear during import. 🙁

So we went to the menu Contacts. We press (or as it is now fashionable to say - we tap) on Import and export and choose Import from storage. A pop-up window opens File selectionvCard where we have to choose one of three options:

• Import 1 vCard file
• Import multiple vCards
• Import all vCards

In our case, we must choose the first option - Import 1 vCard file. The phone automatically finds all previously saved contact files and prompts us to select one of them (most often the most recent by date). If the file was uploaded to Google Drive, then its name will be long. If the file was saved on the phone, then the name will be short. However, a third option is also possible, when the user himself renamed the file with contacts.

Select the file we need and press the OK button. A concise notification appears stating that the file will be imported soon. At the same time, you will not be able to see the progress of the operation anywhere, since the developers decided not to embed the status bar here. If your file has a small number of contacts, then literally after 30 seconds you can safely click on the Contacts icon on the desktop and see what you get. If there are more than a hundred contacts, then it is recommended to wait a bit.

In our case, the procedure was successful. However, some contacts were imported for the first time without pictures at all. Therefore, we assigned a picture to each contact and now right on Xiaomi smartphone Redmi 4 once again saved all contacts to a .vcf file.

Then deleted all contacts from the address book. Settings – System Applications – Contacts – Additionally – Batch Delete Contacts – Delete all contacts – OK. We made sure that there are no more entries in the Contacts application. After that, we launched the procedure for transferring (importing) contacts again, selecting the most recent file from the list proposed by the import wizard. This time the procedure went well, but the full-size photos of the contacts did not appear. Instead, only small oval photographs remained in the general list of contacts and in the card of each contact. However, if you have 10-20 contacts in your address book with photos assigned to them, then you can return them to their original form in 5-7 minutes by dropping all the photos into one of the folders on your smartphone in advance and selecting the desired photo by clicking on the oval avatar in each contact card. The final logical touch after checking each contact on your smartphone is to start syncing contacts with your Google account. After that, you can automatically pick up all your contacts on any Android smartphone.
