Offers samsung gt s8500. A detailed review of the Samsung S8500 Wave mobile phone

Music player. The MP3 player in the Samsung S8500 Wave features Disk UI, which was first introduced in Samsung Jet after a firmware update at the end of 2009. The album cover is displayed as large as possible, below it there are playback control buttons. To see the rest of the controls, you need to click once on the album cover; the next click on it hides them back.

The quality of music playback from the Wave is very pleasant, the phone has a bass and collected sound. I listened to it with different medium headphones price range- both with Sennheiser CX300-II, Philips SHE9500 and AKG K330 plugs, as well as with full-size Sennheiser HD215 and Grado SR60. With all these "ears" Samsung S8500 Wave sounded quite good, the volume margin of the phone is just great. In my opinion, among modern phones, Samsung devices are confidently leading in terms of sound quality.

Of the pleasant little things, it is worth noting the fact that now when you pull out the headphones, the phone does not yell all over the street, but intelligently pauses music playback.

Video player. Out of the box, the phone can play videos in a variety of formats (WMV, H.264, DivX/Xvid), and even the rather exotic MKV container is supported. The maximum resolution of videos is 1280x720 pixels, while scrolling even files with HD resolution is carried out without the slightest brakes.

The player allows you to adjust the color settings (if desired, the image can be made warmer or colder), stretch the image to full screen or display it in its original format, etc.

FM radio. Samsung S8500 Wave is equipped with the most common FM receiver with the most common interface. One of the nice features is the ability to record radio, recording is made in MP3 format with a bit rate of 192 kbps, the maximum recording time is limited by free space in the phone's memory.

Camera

The phone is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED backlight.

The camera interface has changed little compared to Jet, the main difference is Touch Focus support (by pressing the screen you can focus the area). The user can manually set the sensitivity, white balance, and so on.

In daylight, the quality of the resulting images can be called good without any discounts for their telephone nature. Thanks to autofocus, the camera shoots well in macro mode.

Click on the picture to go to the gallery of test shots taken during help Samsung S8500 Wave

In addition to photos, the camera can record video at a resolution of 1280x720 pixels with a refresh rate of 30 frames per second.

Although fast-moving subjects in the video look a little "jerky", in general, the video quality is very good.

WiFi

The phone is equipped with a module WiFi standard 802.11b/g/n supported WEP encryption, WPA/WPA2, and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. In general, working with Wi-Fi has become significantly less problematic compared to the Samsung Jet, I only once had to deal with the fact that the phone could not connect to the network.

Another nice thing is the ability to work as mobile hotspot access. In this mode, Wave acts as a 3G router for other devices (such as laptops, for example).

In the dry matter

Samsung S8500 Wave is one of the best mobile phones of 2010, there is no doubt about it. It combines a powerful hardware platform with an exciting new operating system and unrivaled multimedia capabilities. Of course, there were some rough edges (such as difficulties when setting up Exchange ActiveSync), but they will certainly be fixed in new firmware versions. The biggest disadvantage of the phone is the fact that the bundled navigation program comes with a 1 month license. After this period, access to the maps is retained, but the functions of the actual navigation and routing are disabled, to enable them, you must purchase a subscription to Route 66.

It is worth noting the fact that the Samsung S8500 Wave is very pleasant in everyday use due to the successful implementation of phone functions, high-quality screen and responsive touch controls. It is the telephone part that is the weakest point of devices based on the Android OS - I personally have the impression that Google engineers first of all made an OS for Internet tablets, and added phone functions later, in a hurry, not caring about the convenience of their implementation. Not so with the Samsung S8500 Wave, as Samsung remembers that a phone has to be a phone first and foremost.

At a price of around UAH 4,000, the Samsung S8500 Wave is a very good purchase (especially considering that its predecessor, Jet, cost about UAH 5,000 at the start).

With all of the above in mind, we have made the decision to award the mobile phone our highest award, Editors' Choice.

A model for those who do not play top graphics games and are not a fan of selfies. The rest of the features are top notch. Especially the performance of the device. And the display.

No matter how unsuccessful the decision may be called by many of Samsung's attempt to release its own operating system for BadaOS smartphones, devices from the manufacturer's arsenal running under its control are characterized by high technical specifications. Among such successful devices is the model Samsung wave GT-S8500. Hardware smartphone GT-S8500 is quite relevant today. It is enough to update or replace the system software of the gadget, and then it becomes possible to use many modern applications. How to flash the model will be discussed below.

Manipulations on the firmware will require you to have the proper level of care and accuracy, as well as strict adherence to the instructions. In doing so, do not forget:

All software reinstallation operations are performed by the owner of the smartphone at your own peril and risk! Responsibility for the results of the actions taken lies solely with the user who produces them, but not with the Site Administration!

Before you start flashing the Samsung Wave GT-S8500, you need to do some preparation. To carry out the manipulations, you will need a PC or laptop, ideally running under Windows control 7 and also micro usb cable to pair the device. In addition, for Android installations need micro SD card equal to or greater than 4GB and a card reader.

Drivers

To ensure the interaction of the smartphone and the flash driver, drivers installed in the system will be required. The easiest way to add necessary components in OS for Samsung firmware Wave GT-S8500, is the setup software to manage and maintain the manufacturer's smartphones - Samsung Kies.

Just download and then install Kies following the instructions of the installer, and the drivers will be added to the system automatically. You can download the program installer from the link:

Just in case, separately download the driver package with the auto-installer from the link:

Backup

All instructions below assume a complete cleaning samsung memory Wave GT-S8500 before software installation. Before you start installing the OS, copy important data to a safe place. In this matter, as in the case of drivers, invaluable assistance will be provided by Samsung Kies.

Firmware

To date, it is possible to install two operating systems on the Samsung Wave GT-S8500. It's BadaOS and more versatile as well functional android. Official firmware methods, unfortunately, do not work, due to the cessation of updates by the manufacturer,

but there are tools available that allow you to install one of the systems quite easily. It is recommended to go step by step, following the instructions for installing the software, starting with the first method.

Method 1: Firmware BadaOS 2.0.1

Samsung Wave GT-S8500 should officially run BadaOS. To restore the device in case of loss of performance, update the software, and prepare the smartphone for further installation of modified OS, follow the steps below, which involve using the MultiLoader application as a manipulation tool.

  1. Download the package with BadaOS from the link below and unpack the archive with files into a separate directory.
  2. Unpack the file with the flash driver and open MultiLoader_V5.67 by double-clicking on the application icon in the resulting directory.
  3. In the Multiloader window, check the checkboxes boot change, and Full Download. In addition, make sure that in the field for choosing a hardware platform, the item is selected. LSI.
  4. click Boot and in the opened window "Browse folders" mark the folder "BOOTFILES_EVTSF" located in the directory containing the firmware.
  5. The next step is to add files with software data to the flasher. To do this, you need to press in turn the buttons for adding individual components and indicate to the program the location of the corresponding files in the Explorer window.

Everything is filled in according to the table:

After selecting a component, click "Open".

  6. fields "Tune", "ETC", PFS remain unfilled. Before starting to load files into the device's memory, the MultiLoader should look like this:
  7. Put your Samsung GT-S8500 into the system software installation mode. This is done by pressing three hardware buttons on the switched off smartphone at the same time: "Volume down", "Unlock", "Inclusion".
  8. The keys must be held until the screen displays: download mode.
  9. Additionally: If you have a “bricked” smartphone that cannot be switched to software download mode due to low battery, you need to remove and replace the battery, and then connect Charger while holding down the key on the device "Hook off". The battery icon will appear on the screen and the Wave GT-S8500 will start charging.

  10. Connect Wave GT-S8500 to usb port computer. The smartphone will be detected by the system, as evidenced by the appearance of the COM port designation in the lower part of the Multiloader window and the display of the mark Ready in the field nearby.

When this does not happen and the device is not detected, click the button Port Search.

  11. Everything is ready to start flashing BadaOS. Click Download.
  12. Wait for the files to be written to the device's memory. The log field in the left part of the MultiLoader window, as well as a filling progress indicator for transferring files, allows you to monitor the progress of the process.
  13. You will have to wait about 10 minutes, after which the device will automatically reboot into Bada 2.0.1.

Method 2: Bada+Android

In the event that the Bada OS functionality is not enough to perform modern tasks, you can take the opportunity to install an operating system in the Wave GT-S8500 Android systems. Enthusiasts ported Android for the smartphone in question and created a solution that allows you to use the device in dual boot. Android boots from a memory card, but Bada 2.0 remains untouched by the system and starts when necessary.

Step 1: Prepare the memory card

Before moving on to installing Android, prepare a memory card using the capabilities of the MiniTool Partition Wizard application. This tool will create the partitions necessary for the system to work.

  • When you have finished defining the parameters, press the button Apply at the top of the MiniTool Partition Wizard window,

and then Yes in the request window.

  • After completing the manipulations with the program,

get a memory card prepared for Android installation.

  • Step 2: Install Android

Before moving on to installing Android, it is highly recommended to flash BadaOS on the Samsung Wave GT-S8500 by following all the steps of Method #1 above.

The efficiency of the method is guaranteed only if the device has BadaOS 2.0 installed!

    1. Download from the link below and unpack the archive containing all the necessary components. You will also need the MultiLoader_V5.67 flasher.
    2. Copy to a memory card prepared with using MiniTool Partition Wizard, image file boot.img and patch WI-FI+BT Wave 1.zip from the unpacked archive (Android_S8500 directory), as well as the folder clockworkmod. After the files are transferred, install the card in your smartphone.
    3. Flashing a partition "FOTA" via MultiLoader_V5.67 by following the steps of Method #1 of the S8500 firmware above in the article. Use the file to write FBOOT_S8500_b2x_SD.fota from the archive installation files Android.
    4. Go to Recovery. To do this, simultaneously press the buttons on the switched off Samsung Wave GT-S8500 "Volume Up" And "Put the phone down".
    5. Hold the buttons until the Philz Touch 6 Recovery recovery environment loads.
    6. After entering the recovery, you clear the memory from the data contained in it. To do this, select item (1), then the cleaning function to install new firmware(2), and then confirm your readiness to start the procedure by tapping on the item marked in the screenshot (3).
    7. Waiting for the inscription to appear "Now flash a new ROM".
    8. Returning to main screen recovery and go to the point "Backup & Restore", then choose "Misc Nandroid Settings" and uncheck the checkbox "MD5 checksum";
    9. Re-enter "Backup & Restore" and run "Restore from /storage/sdcard0", then tap on the name of the package with the firmware "2015-01-06.16.04.34_OmniROM". To start the process of writing information to sections of the Samsung Wave GT-S8500 memory card, press Yes Restore.
    10. The Android installation process will begin, wait for it to complete, as indicated by the inscription "Restore complete!" in the lines of the log.
    11. Go to point « Install Zip» the main screen of the recovery, choose "Choose zip from /storage/sdcard0".

    12. Return to the main screen of the recovery environment and tap on Reboot System Now.
    13. The first launch in Android can take up to 10 minutes, but as a result you get a relatively fresh solution - Android KitKat!
    14. To launch BadaOS 2.0, you need to press on the switched off phone "Make a call" + "end call" simultaneously. Android will start by default, i.e. on click "Inclusion".

    Method 3: Android 4.4.4

If you decide to completely abandon Bada on the Samsung Wave GT-S8500 in favor of Android, you can flash the latter in internal memory device.

The example below uses the Android KitKat port, specially modified by enthusiasts for the device in question. You can download the archive containing everything you need from the link:

    1. Install Bada 2.0 by following the steps of Method #1 of the Samsung Wave GT-S8500 firmware above in the article.
    2. Download and unpack the archive with the necessary files for installing Android KitKat using the link above. Also unpack the archive BOOTFILES_S8500XXKL5.zip. The result should be the following:
    3. Launch the flash driver and write three components from the unpacked archive to the device:

    4. Add files in the same way as the instructions for installing Bada, then connect the phone, put into system software download mode, to the USB port and press Download.
    5. The result of the previous step will be rebooting the device in TeamWinRecovery (TWRP).
    6. Follow the path: "Advanced"Terminal CommandSelect.
    7. Return to the main TWRP screen by pressing the button three times Back, choose an item Reboot, then Recovery and flip the switch Swipe to Reboot to the right.
    8. After Recovery restarts, connect your smartphone to the PC and press the buttons: Mount, "Enable MTP".

This will allow the device to be defined in the computer as a removable drive.

    9. Open File Explorer and copy the package omni-4.4.4-20170219-wave-HOMEMADE.zip to the internal memory of the device or a memory card.
    10. Tap on the button "Disable MTP" and return to the main screen of the recovery using the button Back.
    11. Next click Install and specify the path to the package with the firmware.

After sliding the switch Swipe to Confirm Flash to the right, the process of writing Android to the device's memory will begin.

    12. Waiting for a message "Successful" and reboot Samsung Wave GT-S8500 into a new OS by clicking the button Reboot System.
    13. After lengthy initialization installed firmware the smartphone will boot into a modified android version 4.4.4.

Quite a stable solution that brings, let's say openly, a lot of new features to an obsolete device!

In conclusion, I would like to note that the three Samsung Wave GT-S8500 firmware methods described above really allow you to “refresh” a smartphone in program plan. The results of executing the instructions are even a little surprising in the good sense of the word. The device, despite its advanced age, after flashing it performs modern tasks very worthily, so you should not be afraid of experiments!

excellent quality assembly removable battery the brightest and clearest screen (brighter and clearer on Nokia n8 and brighter than on iPhone 4) sits nicely in the hand (not big not small) the call speaker is on the side and the call is always audible EVEN I PHONE OWNERS admit that the sensor response is at least no worse than theirs, and this says a lot, the phone takes amazingly fast panoramic pictures and it can be done easier than on a camera, it holds for quite a long time (about a day with active use and full display brightness) for me, this is actually a lot of H 8 is enough for the same amount of time but there is a less bright display, I phone 4 was not enough for a day. a clear menu is very easy to go to it from any phone convenient dialing and sending sms in one motion very fast browser more convenient than nokia n 8 no less convenient

Great phone! Quality build. Very often the phone fell, escaped with only a few scratches on the back cover Yes, a little on the glass. True, the last time I could not stand it .. It photographs texts well. For study, that's it. Bright screen. At night I had to clean it to a minimum, but it's still bright) It's good to watch the video, even though the screen is small. Ideally lies in the hand, light enough compared to other smartphones, beautiful design, pleasing to the eye) Not easily soiled, metal case. Loud enough. And if you also wear headphones, then it’s generally gorgeous) There were excellent headphones in the kit, but, unfortunately, they quickly fell into disrepair. Very beautiful phone) The memory card is far away, under the battery. If it falls hard enough, it won't fall out. (On other phones there were such cases

Slippery - yes, there is a little, but very thin and pleasant to hold in your hand.
Opera is not installed, a standard browser for an amateur. For those who like a bunch of programs, there aren't many here. More made as a phone, not a communicator.

After reading the comments, I found out that there is such a lag with vibration when incoming SMS.
Do not believe it on bad 2.0 for about a year and only after reading the lag noticed)))) I note that I liked the 1.2 version of the firmware more. I often use my phone to watch videos, clips, movies, etc. and so on. it had a function to adjust the brightness when viewing. And in 2.0 you often have to climb into the settings and add brightness there (And with the default brightness set to half, the battery ends in half a day (if not less)

      2 years ago 0

The biggest downside is bada (note I'm not the only one who thinks so). There are very few applications, there is no way to watch videos on the Internet, since there is no flash player for this OS.
Unfortunately, I did not buy a film for the screen, so the first scratches appeared soon after the purchase. However, after falling on a tile with glass down, the phone could not stand it. To be more precise, the screen cracked. Glass does not crumble, glued very well.
The built-in mp3 player is not very convenient. You cannot add a folder to the list at once. You have to get out through the "recent additions", "performers", well, and so on. Of course, all this, for sure, is solved by installing / buying another player, but I'm used to that. But these are trifles.
Can't find how to turn it on front-camera. be m

      1. Multitasking. Nap: you read word and want to go online.
      2.Can't change word files.
3.Does not open large PDF books.
      4.Hot-swappable memory card.
      5. The phone is really very slippery.
      6. There is no "quiet" during a call.
      7. No auto-rotate in many applications. Nap: opera.
      8. Widget sizes. They are big.

But as soon as I had to write an SMS, I was very upset .... insanely uncomfortable ... and I had to get very nervous before finding the text input settings.. there are very few keyboard options ... it is impossible to type a single word normally ... ((((I do not know what to do((((??

Uncertain signal reception, far from the city it is easy to remain without communication (which was the case with me in Karelia)
      Few smart apps
The app store is terrible and inconvenient
      Regular music player is inconvenient
Normally working (in the background) ICQ seems to be still not there

The Samsung Wave uses a 1500 mAh battery. Samsung claims 7 (3G) or 15 (2G) hours of talk time and 550 (3G) or 600 (2G) hours of standby time. The video playback time is about 9 hours, and in the music playback mode with the screen turned off, the device worked for exactly 32 hours and 11 minutes - a very good result.

With typical urban use, the device is able to work for about 2 days with a small number of calls, a large number network traffic(Push mail synchronization, frequent web browsing, etc.) and active use of an MP3 player and FM radio. By the way, almost all Android devices with my usage model do not survive until the end of the working day. This also applies samsung galaxy S, which is almost identical to the S8500 in terms of hardware. From this I can conclude that operating system bada is better optimized in terms of power consumption.

    Performance

Unfortunately, there are currently no benchmarks for bada, so it is not possible to adequately measure the performance of the Samsung Wave. Subjectively, the device works very quickly. This impression is confirmed by the quality of graphics and performance in games for bada.

    Menu, interface

The interface, compared to TouchWiz 2.0, has been significantly redesigned, but not beyond recognition. If you have had a Samsung device before, you will most likely quickly find mutual language with wave. TouchWiz 3.0 supports multiple desktops (up to 10), each desktop can host as many widgets as you like. If you flip your phone to landscape mode while editing widgets, you will be taken to the interface for removing and adding desktops.

Bada has a system notification area - to open it, you need to touch the status bar at the top of the screen. Here you can enable/disable wireless interfaces or put the phone in silent mode, notifications of new messages and letters are also displayed here. If you have an active player or FM receiver, playback control buttons will appear in the control area.

The lock screen is quite traditional - after pressing the unlock key, you need to swipe your finger across the entire screen to unlock the phone. If you're listening to music or the radio, a CD icon appears at the top of the lock screen. Clicking on it opens the player control panel.

The main menu has a flat structure (no folders or subfolders). It is divided into several screens, the navigation between them is cyclic. The location of the icons can be changed arbitrarily. If at the same time, by analogy with the desktop, turn the phone in horizontal position, a window for deleting and/or adding menu pages will open. In the settings, you can enable automatic ordering of icons: in this mode, Wave itself keeps track of which menu items you use most often and changes their order accordingly.

The device supports limited multitasking: several devices can be running at the same time. system applications, one bada application and one Java program. The task manager, as before, is called by a long press on the menu key.

    Samsung Apps

Samsung Apps is Samsung's app store, which in its ideology is very similar to Apple App Store or Android Market. Applications can be sorted by popularity, categories, price, and so on. At present, only free applications are available in Samsung Apps in Ukraine, the full launch of the store should take place before the end of September, this will allow Ukrainian users to access more than 1000 applications, among which there is also a package for working with Microsoft documents office.

It is worth noting that Samsung is currently running a promotion where you can download several quality games for free, including NFS Shift, Bruce Lee: The Dragon Warrior, Kroll and the very nice platformer Nom Zero. Apps can only be installed from the store Samsung apps Apps (either directly on your phone or via Samsung program Kies), and Kies supports installation free apps, designed for any markets, but only those programs that are available in the local (Ukrainian) Samsung Apps are directly available on the phone.

    Phone functions: "dialer", call history

Direct phone functions in the Samsung S8500 are implemented more conveniently than in any Android-smartphone. "Dialer" is made very well, the virtual numeric keys are large and well readable. The call history is very well done, which shows a detailed list of incoming and outgoing calls for each contact, indicating the date, time and duration of each call.

    Contacts, calendar and others

The phone book is admirable, it allows you to record almost any conceivable information about a contact. You can choose to sort by first name or last name, there is a quick navigation by the first letters of the name. Contacts are fully integrated with social networks, any person can be linked to his account on Twitter, Facebook and so on. Of course, for each contact you can see the history of calls and correspondence, status updates in in social networks and related photos (from the same social networks).

The calendar has a nice interface. Traditionally, you can display a schedule for a specific day, week, or month.

    Working with messages, on-screen keyboard

Working with messages is organized in the style of the iPhone - they are displayed in the form of conversations. At the bottom of the screen there is an input field, by clicking on it, you immediately begin to write an answer to your neighbor. According to the interface logic, there is no difference between SMS and MMS: if you attach an attachment to a regular text message, it automatically turns into a multimedia one.

The on-screen keyboard in Samsung Wave is implemented very well. First, it supports switching languages with one button. Secondly, you can add languages to the list yourself. fast switching in settings. Thirdly, when you long press the spacebar, a panel pops up with the most commonly used punctuation marks, so there is no need to switch to character mode. Of course, the keyboard can work both in vertical and in horizontal orientation screen.

When working with text, Copy & Paste is supported.

    Browser

The phone uses a Samsung proprietary browser based on the WebKit engine. The speed and rendering quality are very good, multi-touch is supported, you can open several windows at the same time. By analogy with the iPhone browser, you can double-click on a column of text so that the phone automatically expands it to the full width of the screen.

The current firmware of the phone supports Flash, but its stability leaves much to be desired: when you try to go to the flash-game.net website and play any game, the browser inevitably crashes. In addition, on pages with Flash banners, the browser began to noticeably slow down, so, in my opinion, it is better to turn off Flash in Samsung Wave today.

    Social media

Samsung Wave initially has clients for Facebook and Twitter. The Facebook client is very good and can completely replace accessing the site through a desktop browser.

But the Twitter client causes a lot of criticism. It is limited in its capabilities, for example, you cannot publish photos, nicknames of users in tweets are not displayed as links, the client cannot constantly work as background process and notify you of new messages. Convenience is also questionable: when you refresh the feed, it only shows the last few tweets. To see everything else, you have to scroll and click Refresh again. In general, the implementation pulls at best for a C grade.

    Multimedia features

Music player. The MP3 player in the Samsung Wave features Disk UI, which was first introduced to the Samsung Jet after a firmware update in late 2009. The album cover is displayed as large as possible, below it there are playback control buttons. To see the rest of the controls, you need to click once on the album cover; the next click on it hides them back.

The quality of music playback from the Wave is very pleasant, the phone has a bass and collected sound. I listened to it with a variety of mid-range headphones, from Sennheiser CX300-II, Philips SHE9500 and AKG K330 earplugs to full-size Sennheiser HD215 and Grado SR60. With all these "ears" the S8500 sounded pretty good, the phone's volume margin is just great. In my opinion, among modern phones, Samsung devices are confidently leading in terms of sound quality.

The bundled headset, by the way, is quite decent in terms of the quality of music playback, but there are complaints about its microphone - when I tried to talk on it, the interlocutors complained that they could not hear me well. Another disadvantage is that the kit comes with rubber nozzles of only one size, for me, for example, they turned out to be small.

FM radio. Samsung Wave is equipped with the most common FM receiver with the most common interface.

In addition to photos, the camera can record video at a resolution of 1280x720 pixels with a refresh rate of 30 frames per second.

Although fast-moving subjects in the video look a little "jerky", in general, the video quality is very good.

    WiFi

The phone is equipped with a 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi module, WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption is supported. In general, working with Wi-Fi has become significantly less problematic compared to the Samsung Jet, I only once had to deal with the fact that the phone could not connect to the network.

Another nice thing is the ability to work as a mobile hotspot. In this mode, Wave acts as a 3G router for other devices (such as laptops, for example).

    In the dry matter

Samsung Wave is one of the best mobile phones of 2010, there is no doubt about it. It combines a powerful hardware platform with an exciting new operating system and unmatched multimedia capabilities. Of course, there were some rough edges (such as difficulties when setting up Exchange ActiveSync), but they will certainly be fixed in new firmware versions. Worth noting is the fact that the S8500 is very pleasant in everyday use due to the successful implementation of phone functions, a high-quality screen and responsive touch controls. It is the phone part that is the weakest point of devices based on the Android OS - I personally have the impression that Google engineers first of all made the OS for Internet tablets, and added phone functions later, in a hurry, not caring about the convenience of their implementation. This is not the case with the Samsung Wave, as Samsung remembers that a phone must be a phone first and foremost. At a price of around UAH 4,000, Samsung Wave is a very good purchase (especially considering that its predecessor, Jet, cost about UAH 5,000 at the start). With all of the above in mind, we have decided to award the Samsung S8500 Wave mobile phone our highest award, Editors' Choice.
