Many will say that there are no budget gadgets on the brand new Android 5.1 (Lollipop) platform, but they are wrong. While venerable companies present on the market mobile devices one device after another on the tempting “five”, while receiving a lot of negative reviews due to problems with updating the platform, the Fly brand releases a modern and sensible solution in the form of Cirrus 1, and with a very affordable price tag. Many people perceived the new brainchild of the scandalous company with justifiable bias, but let’s see what the British designers came up with.

So, the subject of today’s review is the Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 smartphone. Let’s look at the main characteristics of the gadget, outline the advantages and disadvantages of the model, and also consider the opinions of experts in this field and reviews from ordinary device owners.

Contents of delivery

Fly FS502 Cirrus is packed in an ordinary and unremarkable box white. There is no image of the device itself with a beautiful girl or man, but a small stripe reflects the sky panorama, apparently for romantic people. Behind the box you can see the most “delicious” characteristics of the smartphone and standard badges with awards at some unfamiliar exhibitions.

Completeness:

  • Fly FS502 phone itself;
  • network Charger at 1A;
  • removable battery;
  • micro-USB cable for charging and synchronization with a PC;
  • stereo headset;
  • manual (including in Russian);
  • warranty card.

The equipment is modest, which is quite consistent with the budget segment. You won’t see any covers, films, brackets and other accessories that are familiar to premium models in the box, but maybe that’s for the best, because each accessory significantly adds to the cost of the Fly FS502 Cirrus phone. The price of the gadget is more than affordable for its characteristics, and after purchasing you can immediately start using it, and if you don’t have enough of something, you can always buy what you need (also inexpensively) on the brand’s shelves.

Appearance

The device has a monoblock form factor and arrived in the store in just one color scheme - black. The lower front part is reserved for the familiar Android buttons “Back”, “Home” and “Menu”. The navigation design is made in the appropriate style for Lollipop - Material.

In the upper left part there is a 2 MP front camera with proximity and light sensors, as well as a motion sensor. On the left side there is a volume rocker and on the other side there is a key to turn off the device. The bottom end is occupied by a micro-USB interface, and the top is a 3.5 mm “mini-jack” for a headset.

Design Features

The back panel of the Fly FS502 has high-quality plastic with a dotted texture. The lid is removable, but sits in the grooves very tightly. No backlash or cracks were noticed in the contact area. Underneath there is a compartment for battery and micro-to-mini SIM card interfaces, as well as a section for external SD drives.

On the left rear side of the Fly FS502 there is a peephole for the main camera, and just below the flash LED type. In addition, on the back cover there is a brand logo and at the very bottom there is a decorative speaker grille.

Despite the fact that the body design uses mostly plastic, the gadget leaves an extremely positive impression. Users in their reviews note a well-made texture on the rear panel, which does not allow the device to slip out of their hands, and the overall build quality does not raise any complaints: no creaks, no crunches, no backlashes, that is, nothing that is typical for the budget segment.

Ergonomics

Fly FS502 has a 5-inch screen, and this largely determines technical dimensions gadget. The device has standard dimensions for its class - 143 x 73 x 9 mm and weighs 144 grams. The display frame around the perimeter, 4 mm wide, does not particularly stand out, but is noticeable to the touch.

Five-inch devices no longer seem like something unusual, and they are called “shovels” less and less often, and in the case of the Fly FS502 this is especially true. The device feels comfortable in the palm thanks to its rounded edges, and it is very convenient to use it with one hand.

Judging by user reviews, even despite the not entirely standard layout of the interfaces, it is easy to operate for both right-handers and left-handers. For the former, the volume rocker is located exactly under the index finger, and the power button is under the thumb, and for the latter, it’s the other way around. In addition, despite touch navigation, the bezels around the display do not seem too large, so there is more than enough space for a desktop.

Screen

The gadget received a more or less sensible IPS matrix with a layout of 1280 x 720 pixels. The density of 293 ppi is quite enough for a comfortable HD resolution, and individual pixels are not visible even upon close inspection.

Thanks to IPS technology, viewing angles are good level. The same can be said about color rendering. Users in their reviews note a slight shift to a cooler gamma and the absence of any color temperature settings, but the overall impressions of the picture are mostly positive.

The screen brightness is enough to work on a sunny day, and adaptive adjustment allows you to quickly navigate environment. The image looks natural, and the transitions from one gamma to another are imperceptible and smooth.

Performance

The device is equipped with a good set of chipsets. The Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with four cores (1.2 GHz) is responsible for performance. One gigabyte of RAM is enough to perform most tasks and gaming applications.

For data storage, 8 GB of internal memory is provided, of which approximately 5 GB is available to the user, but if this is not enough, you can always expand the volume using external SD drives (up to 32 GB).

The smartphone interface works quickly and confidently, and all desktop elements switch as expected and without delay. Fans of Google Chrome will also not see any friezes, brakes and other lags that they are used to seeing in budget models.

Gaming applications launch and run without problems, but for particularly “heavy” games you will have to reset the graphics settings to medium or minimum levels. Videos, music and other content are played easily and also without lags.

Autonomous operation

The gadget received a removable battery with a capacity of 2050 mAh. For the Android brethren, this is considered a small volume, but not that much powerful filling allows you to work with the device to your heart's content.

When the device is fully loaded with adaptive brightness, surfing the Internet and watching video content in high resolution The battery lasted almost 8 hours. In one hour, in “heavy” gaming applications, about a quarter of the charge disappears, and when working only with video, the battery drains at a rate of 15% of the charge per hour.

Users in their reviews calmly perceived the available time battery life. They are already accustomed to quickly discharging Android gadgets, and the FS502 model even outperforms most budget devices in terms of autonomy.

Summarizing

Fly FS502 (the price of which is about 6,000 rubles) is a pleasant smartphone in many respects. One of the main features that may surprise you with a budget gadget is the presence of the Lollipop system (Android 5.1) in the platform. This also includes a very good set of chipsets for its segment and excellent communication capabilities.

The device looks solid, nice, and you can’t call it cheap. In addition, the presence of high-quality plastic and a textured back cover that prevents the smartphone from slipping out of your hands leaves only positive impressions on most users.

Overall the device was a success. Despite minor shortcomings, I can recommend it to anyone.

For anyone budget device The price and functionality that more or less meets modern realities are very important. Even affordable smartphone should be able to do everything or almost everything that the latest flagship can do. Yes, there will be a difference in how well and quickly the device will perform all these operations. But it’s important for us to save money, isn’t it?

Equipment

The kit is very simple. In addition to the phone itself, the box is simply heaped with accessories, but each in its own bag. Eat Micro cable USB, charger and wired headset, which is better not to take out at all and immediately get something better. For example, this one.

Design

The device is made entirely of plastic. At the back there is a practical, textured cover. Due to its uneven surface and the angularity of the body, the device fits well in the hand: it does not try to slip out of your hands at any opportunity, and the edges cling well to the palm.

All control buttons are where they should be. If you put the device in your right hand, the power key is under your thumb, and your index finger, in turn, rests on the volume rocker.

The touch buttons below the screen are always easy to reach. The dimensions of the device have a positive effect, which in turn is based on the screen diagonal of 5 inches.

The touch buttons are backlit. This is very convenient when you are not yet accustomed to their location and need to press them in the dark.

The back cover is removed, revealing the battery (removable) and accessible card slots. You can install two SIM cards here: Micro and standard format.

Here, under the cover, there is a slot for Micro SD. I recommend getting a memory card, because the system is guaranteed to annoy you with endless notifications that “memory card is not installed.” There is no way to remove it. Do whatever you want with this notice. This is the logic.

There is only one body color available for sale - black. Want to get a white one? Look towards the updated model. By the way, we will test it very soon.

Display

Covers the screen protective glass(the manufacturer and model of the glass are not reliably known), which lacks any effective oleophobic coating. Yes, your finger glides across the surface quite easily, but fingerprints readily accumulate on the front panel. Fortunately, they are easily removed by simply wiping the front surface on jeans, for example. I did exactly this, and I recommend that you don’t worry about this issue either.

The screen itself is represented by an IPS matrix with air gap between the layers of this sandwich. In-Cell technology came to the smartphone only in , the release of which we recently announced.

  • resolution 1280 x 720
  • dot density about 320 ppi

The display behaves well in the sun. Thanks to the IPS matrix and sufficient brightness level. By the way, the ambient light sensor works quite well - it quickly changes the backlight depending on the amount of light around. However, for me personally, a specific brightness level was always not enough, so I simply turned off the sensor. It made me feel more comfortable.

Despite the fact that IPS technology is used here, the viewing angles are not great. When the device is deflected, so to speak, along the X and Y axes, everything is quite good. Yes, the brightness decreases, a whitish veil appears a little, but all this is uncritical.

However, when you deviate along the Z axis, the horror begins. Allegedly, the IPS matrix displays colors like a budget TFT screen: hard inversion immediately comes out even with the slightest deviation. You can observe everything for yourself.

Technical characteristics of Fly Cirrus 1 FS502:

Wireless communications:

  • 2G, 3G (900 / 2100 MHz)
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1
  • FM radio, GPS, A-GPS

I would like to additionally draw your attention to a couple of things. Firstly, there is no support for LTE networks. Under working conditions cellular networks, when no standard is at full capacity, you won't lose anything special from it. At least for now.

Secondly, the Bluetooth version here is only 2.1. In other words, many fitness trackers won't work with this device. A striking example of such a gadget is the most affordable Xiaomi Mi Band bracelet.

Performance

Let's talk about the good stuff first. The smartphone is suitable for games, even modern 3D action games, even at low or medium settings. For the most part, all modern toys are well optimized independently for specific hardware and you can play quite comfortably.

Dead Trigger 2 on low settings

Dead Trigger 2 on medium graphics settings

However, the overall system performance is very poor. Any of your actions are accompanied by brakes. Moreover, there are usually no problems with animation - in Android Lollipop The developers paid maximum attention to this point, so there is no decrease in FPS in the interface menus.

It's just a very thoughtful device. It freezes for 1-2 seconds literally at every turn.

Applications take even longer to open: it takes about 2-3 seconds to open standard utilities, third party software, for example, Yandex.Mail, Instagram and others, launch in 5 seconds - and this is normal.

It often happens that when you open an application, the interface starts, but does not respond to anything. This, of course, is annoying and you start poking all over the screen, the system loads and as a result launches all those functions that you managed to poke earlier. Of course, before this the utility will hang a little.

We also managed to catch a few glitches.

Thus, Instagram periodically closed on its own, throwing people out of the feed. It's unpleasant, but this glitch is stable. You won't be able to stay on social media for long. Perhaps it's for the better.

The section concludes with the results of the smartphone performance test in system tests.

Cameras

Front-camera represented by a 2 megapixel module. The photos are of rather poor quality. You can see this for yourself by checking out my fancy dress from the last Helloween.

The main module has 8 megapixels. In this case, the maximum image resolution does not exceed 3264 x 2448 pixels.

There is autofocus, which is nice. You can take photos of announcements at the entrance, the clinic doctor’s work schedule and lecture notes without much difficulty.

The main problem is the matrix in godless noise always and everywhere. This is noticeable in both daytime and night shots. Otherwise, the module again has problems. Listing everything is a thankless task; it’s easier to study the examples yourself.

This time I won’t even suggest downloading the archive with the originals for their detailed study. Believe me, there is nothing to see there. Everything can be seen from the above photographs.

Battery life

The battery, as we have already found out, is removable and has a capacity of 2050 mAh. Not much, of course, but the hardware installed here is not the most demanding. However, this does not have any positive effect on battery life.

In normal operation mode for a smartphone (notifications in the background, social networks, surfing the Internet, calls and Viber, which results in about 2.5 hours of screen operation) Fly Cirrus 1 lasts one day. I mean daylight during the transition between seasons. In other words, if you fully charged the device at 8 am, then it will live until 8-9 pm of the same day. Best case scenario.

In dialer mode, the device will have to be charged once every two days. On the other hand, it’s high time to install a free socket near the bedside table so you can charge your smartphone every night. And what do you want? It will only get worse, so this will definitely have to be done.

Sound quality

The external speaker here is quite loud. Above average when compared to most competitors on the market.

The vibration motor here is also quite strong. It is also responsible for the vibration response when you press the screen. Moreover, every time the entire body of the phone cracks with anguish. It is, of course, inappropriate to compare its operation with the functioning of the Taptic Engine in the iPhone 6S, but I would like a more subtle and accurate vibration.

The sound quality in the headphones is quite good. At the level of competitive smartphones, including those from the higher price segment. Of course, you need to use third-party headphones to achieve better sound quality.

A few more words regarding multimedia. I have never been able to play a video from YouTube on Chrome browser. However, this applies to any online video in general. The sound comes on, but the image does not appear. I don’t know what could be the matter here, but in my own Youtube application everything is more or less good.

Connection quality

As we have already found out, the device supports the simultaneous operation of two SIM cards. Each one is equipped with 3G support and each of them can be the main card - everything is configured from the menu.

Unfortunately, in the settings you cannot select the priority of 3G communication so that the smartphone always gives preference to a faster connection rather than sliding into EDGE, where the existence of the Internet has not been proven by scientists.

In standby mode, both SIM cards are active, but when a call arrives on one of them, the second one ceases to be available. Normal behavior for a device with one radio module.

I didn't like the overall quality of the connection.

More precisely, there were constantly some problems with signal reception in places where there should not be any problems with it. In general, of course, I didn’t find anything critical, but there was still a certain inconvenience.

Bottom line

This is what the manufacturer officially says about his brainchild: “Fly Cirrus 1 is a smartphone for those who want more, deserve better and know how to get it without putting an extra strain on the budget.”

I would paraphrase this phrase somewhat as follows: “Fly Cirrus 1 is a smartphone for those who want to buy a cheap device based on Android 5.1, with an official guarantee, support for two SIM cards, but are willing to put up with the slowness of the device.”

The price of Fly Cirrus 1 is now at 6,990 rubles. Worth looking for more available options, because the device is not worth this money. The place of our smartphone on store shelves is beginning to be occupied by a successor - Fly Cirrius 2, which sells for a little more. Soon we will review this device, and at the same time we will figure out which generation we should give our preference to. For starters, I’ll note that some childhood illnesses have disappeared in the new generation.

Our smartphone is actually not bad, but the whole impression is spoiled by endless brakes always and everywhere. Applications take a few seconds to open, switching between them is accompanied by short freezes, online videos through the browser do not open at all.

The device is suitable for those people who do not have experience communicating with complex gadgets and, most likely, will not notice all these nuances. I’m used to being on the go, responding to a message in Viber in a few seconds, switching to Chrome to look at some specifications, copying them and pasting them into a Yandex mail message to respond to another editor’s letter. I spend more than one and a half minutes on all these actions. With Fly Cirrus 1, this will take me about three minutes, and I will be forced to stop and do all these operations in a relatively calm environment, so that God forbid I miss and accidentally poke at the icon unnecessary application, because on the “fly” it will run for 5 seconds, and to exit it and return to the desired application it will take the same amount of time.

Already on sale Price: 6,990 rubles

Smartphones from the company Fly widely known to Russian users. For the most part, these are budget and fairly high-quality models with characteristics typical of so-called B-brand smartphones. Contents of delivery:

  • Smartphone Fly FS502 Cirrus 1;
  • Power unit;
  • USB-microUSB cable;
  • Headset;
  • Documentation (warranty card, user manual).

Everything is standard with the kit; the smartphone is equipped with only the essentials.

The included headphones are of rather modest quality; they are fine for conversations, but for listening to music you should immediately think about replacing them.

Design and management

Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 is made in the classic monoblock form factor. At first glance, we had a certain deja vu; the smartphone, with its body shape and general outline, is similar to the popular Google Nexus 5, even the mechanical buttons are located in the same way. The body materials are traditional. The front panel is completely covered with protective glass, which resists scratches quite well. This glass has an oleophobic coating, which means it doesn’t get very dirty and can be easily wiped with a napkin. The frames around the screen are wide, which is a certain indicator of the rank of the device; after all, we have a very budget solution. The body of the smartphone has a clear and rather sharp shape, the corners are rounded quite a bit, the device looks masculine. The back cover is pleasant to the touch; it is made of thin ribbed plastic with a chrome logo in the center. The material is completely non-slip, so the smartphone does not try to slip out of your hand. The build quality is excellent, the elements fit very tightly to each other, there are no cracks, the case does not creak or crack.

Below the screen there are three touch buttons - “Back”, “Home” and “Menu”. They are made in a style characteristic of Android 5.1. Medium brightness backlight.

Above the screen there is a speaker, a front camera with a resolution of 2 MP, as well as a proximity and light sensor. The sensors work correctly, there are no complaints.

The main camera with LED flash is on the left top corner rear surface of the case. The resolution is 8 megapixels, there is autofocus. The photo quality is quite good, we'll talk about that a little later.

At the bottom there is a noticeable grille, under which the main speaker is hidden. The sound quality is average; at high volume levels, some extraneous crackling sounds are heard. The volume reserve is sufficient. It should be noted that the grille is flat, which means that when the smartphone is positioned with the speaker facing down, the sound is noticeably muffled.

Mechanical volume and power buttons are located on opposite sides of the case. On the right is the power button, on the left is the volume rocker. The location is ambiguous; adding sound with your index finger is not the most convenient thing to do. The buttons are plastic, the travel is short, pressing is almost silent. It is also worth noting the edging around the perimeter of the smartphone; it is plastic and without any shiny coating.

The audio output is on the top end, and the microUSB port is on the bottom. A hole with a microphone is noticeable next to the port.

Even despite the rather wide frames around the screen, the smartphone has compact dimensions. Dimensions are 142.7 by 72.45 mm, with a thickness of 8.8 mm. It fits perfectly in the hand and doesn’t tend to slip out. Takes up little space in your pocket. The weight, by the way, is just over 143 grams, which is also quite a bit. In general, the Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 doesn’t feel like a “shovel” at all; it’s a neat, compact smartphone.

The back cover is removable and opens without any problems. Under the cover is a battery, which we will talk about a little later, a slot for a microSDHC memory card and two slots for SIM cards. One Micro-SIM and one Mini-SIM card are used. Since there is only one radio module, SIM cards operate in alternating mode (Dual SIM Dual Standby). When talking on one card, the second one will be unavailable; this mode is typical for almost all budget (and not so budget) smartphones. One SIM card works only with GSM (2G) networks, and the second with both GSM (2G) and UMTS (3G), LTE (4G) networks, unfortunately, are not supported.

Screen

The smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch screen with IPS matrix, aspect ratio 16:9. The resolution is 1280 by 720 pixels, in principle, this is quite enough for such a diagonal. The pixel density of 293 ppi provides a smooth picture without “ladders” and individual points along the edges of icons or letters. Color transitions are smooth and imperceptible. Color rendition is good, only a very slight shift towards the cold side is noticeable, but in everyday use hardly anyone will pay attention to this. The screen supports up to 5 simultaneous touches, which will be enough for any application.

The viewing angles are wide, which is typical even for inexpensive matrices. With significant deviations, the change in colors and brightness is minimal.

Illumination uniformity is quite good. Small areas of glare are visible only at the bottom of the screen, but during everyday use they do not cause any inconvenience.

Operating system and software

Cirrus 1 runs Android operating system version 5.1 Lollipop. And this fact cannot but rejoice, since on this moment This system is very current and even some more expensive models have not been updated to this version. there is no proprietary shell, so we have the so-called “naked” Android.

The main desktop looks quite familiar, a clock with a calendar in the center, with Google search on top. below are several folders with the most used applications, as well as icons quick transition to the main functions (phone, sms, browser and camera). The lowering curtain consists of two parts; if you pull it once, various notifications will appear in front of us; if you pull it again, you can see the control icons wireless networks, navigation and so on. Long press on empty space on the desktop allows you to go to the settings menu of that very desktop. From here you can change the wallpaper, add widgets, or go to advanced settings.

Only applications are displayed in the menu. There are quite a lot of them here, except standard programs from Google there is a set of pre-installed software from the manufacturer, however, all of this is free, available in Google Play applications.

It is difficult to single out any of the applications; there is the Megogo online cinema, an application from banks, a selection of games, VKontakte, 2GIS and so on. Also initially installed Clean Master, with which you can easily clear memory of unnecessary files.

The "dialer" and the tool for writing sms are typical for Android 5.1, quite functional and convenient. The keyboard supports continuous text input.

Since the smartphone uses two SIM cards, functionality is also needed to switch between them. From the settings you can set the default card used for calls, SMS or data transfer. You can also set “Ask every time”, then when activating the Internet or making a call, the user will be asked which SIM card to use.

Performance and Memory

Considering the technical characteristics of the smartphone, the Spreadtrum SC7731 hardware platform is of greatest interest. We haven’t seen smartphones on this platform before, so we don’t know what to expect from it. Judging by data from open sources, the Spreadtrum SC7731 is very close in performance to the MediaTek MT6582. Yes, the processor is far from new, but it is still used in budget solutions. In our case, we have 4 Cortex-A7 cores with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz, a Mali-400 MP2 video core and 1 GB of RAM, of which about 400 MB is available to the user. Built-in memory 8 GB, about 5.5 GB available.

A set of combined and processor tests showed very average results, but given the price of the smartphone, this was quite expected. In the AnTuTu test we received 19323 points. seems to be good, but not in 2015.

The capabilities of the Mali-400 MP2 have long been known to everyone. Taking into account the resolution of 1280x720 pixels, it copes with its tasks quite well. NenaMark2 has almost 49 fps.

Now it’s worth talking about general impressions about performance. Everything in the interface is absolutely smooth, no significant freezes or lags. Internet surfing is comfortable, 5 open bookmarks in Chrome they do not cause any discomfort. As for games, the smartphone is definitely not a gaming smartphone, but you can pass the time with simple time killers. Heavier games also run, but at low or medium settings. Asphalt 8 or Dead Trigger 2 work quite comfortably.

Multimedia

The smartphone, naturally, copes without problems with playing popular video and music formats from both internal memory, and from the network. The sound, as already mentioned, is not the best, at high volume levels the external speaker produces extraneous sounds, the sound in the headphones is not bad, but the supplied headphones are of rather poor quality, so it is better to replace them immediately. The AnTuTu Video Tester application showed contradictory results, it does not play at all or plays with problems the MKV format with a resolution of 2K and 4K, and video in the WMV format with a resolution of 1080P also did not work. but it should be noted that the most common files work without problems.

Wireless interfaces

Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 supports the main set wireless interfaces. cellular represented by GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS 900/2100 MHz standards, LTE is not supported. The reception quality of both 2G and 3G networks is excellent; no problems arose within the city during operation. For high-speed Internet access you can use Wi-Fi networks 802.11 a/b/g/n, signal reception is also reliable, a few meters from the router the scale shows the maximum value, the Internet speed is close to the stated tariff. For navigation, a GPS module with A-GPS support is installed. The “cold start” took no more than two minutes, 14 satellites were discovered, of which 5 were used.

Camera

The main camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels, has autofocus and flash. Although the camera sensor is far from advanced, it copes very well with photos. With sufficient lighting, the image turns out to be quite detailed and with natural colors. Under poor shooting conditions, of course, it is very difficult to obtain acceptable photo quality. The video is shot in Full HD resolution, the quality is also good.

As for the settings, there are quite a lot of them. Advanced users will be able to “play” with white balance, sensitivity, and so on. There are also ready-made presets for various conditions filming.

Examples of photos:

The camera has an HDR mode; for an example of how this mode works, here is a photo. Left without HDR, right with HDR.

Example video:

Autonomous operation

The device is powered by a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 2050 mAh. The battery, to be honest, is not impressive, but the relative thinness of the case did not allow installing a more capacious model. The battery is fully charged in just over 2 hours.

First of all, we checked the operating time under intensive load in the AnTuTu Tester battery test. From 100% to 14%, the smartphone was discharged in 3 hours, with the final score being 4756. Quite a bit. In everyday use, the charge lasts for a day of not very intensive use. When watching movies, the Cirrus 1 will last 6 hours; when playing games, the battery will run out in 4 hours. Thus, we see average autonomy indicators, typical for most budget smartphones with similar characteristics.

Eventually

Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 turned out to be a completely balanced and pleasant smartphone. Yes, it sometimes lacks performance for games, it does not have record-breaking battery life or a super-high-quality screen, but all this is justified by its reasonable price. Cirrus 1 can surprise you, first of all, current version systems and decent appearance, the smartphone looks quite high quality and expensive. The performance is enough for most everyday tasks, and other potential buyers of this device and it's not necessary.

The price of Fly FS502 Cirrus 1 is currently 6,490 rubles, which is acceptable for this class of device.

Remember, not long ago, most of the shelves in mobile equipment stores were occupied by devices from domestic manufacturers? More precisely, they were produced under Russian brands - they are all manufactured in Chinese factories.

However, for various reasons, most of these companies have noticeably reduced their activity in recent years. It’s not often these days that you see news about the release of new products from some Explay or teXet. Yes, new brands have appeared, and DEXP can be called the brightest representative of a young and aggressive manufacturer. But of the “old guard,” perhaps only .

And Highscreen regularly updates its range. But after they changed marketing agencies, testing their products became problematic. But we are not here to cry about careless PR people, but to consider new smartphone. Fly Cirrus 1 threatens to become one of the hits in the mid-budget segment.

What's good about him? Everything becomes clear if you look at the characteristics and price.

A smartphone with an HD display for 6-7 thousand in official retail is now a rarity. And then there’s the new platform – Android 5.1. The rest of the characteristics are not stellar, but if everything just works as it should, then this is indeed a very interesting offer.

So, what is hidden in a simple box made of thin cardboard?

Packaging and equipment Fly FS502 Cirrus 1

Yes, perhaps it was not worth saving so much on packaging. It's clear what you want more money spending the production budget on the product itself to make it better is commendable. But the very soft box not only does not look very neat and feels bad in the hands, but also simply does not protect the smartphone in the best way.

Fortunately, nothing happened to our specimen, and it was waiting for us inside, safe and sound.

As well as the delivery set, consisting of standard thin documentation, a charger unit, a cable for it and a simple wired headset. Everything is nondescript, of average quality, but neat - it’s strange to expect anything better from an inexpensive device.

Appearance and design of Fly FS502 Cirrus 1

After removing the protective shipping film, we are presented with a “modern ordinary smartphone”: a black block with slightly rounded edges.

Among the pleasant features we can note back cover made of ribbed plastic with a chrome insert of the brand logo. Everything is better than hard oak plastic with a sloppily painted logo, like most “classmates”.

The front panel is completely covered with tempered protective glass. Shipping film is factory-applied on top. Protective film included or not already on the screen. Fortunately, there is an oleophobic coating on the glass - your finger glides over it well, and fingerprints can be easily wiped off with a soft cloth (or, in simple terms, “on your pants”). The frame around the screen, like the lid, is also made of matte plastic.

The smartphone fits well in the palm of your hand and the grip is secure. The width of the case is standard for an inexpensive representative of the five-inch form factor - the frames around the screen are a bit thick, but everything is within the limits of modern decency.

But the power key and volume rocker are located extremely inconveniently. Both are on top. Reaching them while holding a smartphone with one hand is problematic.

The key travel is normal. They are made of the same plastic as the frame. There are no backlashes or squeaks. They are pressed with a characteristic click.

There is no notification indicator. I was pleased with the uniformity of the illumination of the touch keys from below. She is pale, but there is no need for more in the dark.

The key sensor is responsive. There is unregulated vibration feedback. You can feel it in your hand, but it won’t be in your pocket. But at least the rather weak vibration motor is silent.

The arrangement of the elements is standard. The only thing we can note is the main camera module with a single LED flash, shifted to the corner, and the absence of bumps that prevent the ringing speaker on the rear panel from blocking.

General characteristics

Type

Deciding on the type of device (phone or smartphone?) is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to choose a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly less than that of a regular phone.
