There are a lot of similar applications. Moreover, they all work on the same principle. In this case, programs for transferring files over Wi-Fi can be divided into two groups:
- Direct transmission.
- Sending data through the server.
The most common and simplest program for direct file transfer is FTP server.
This free application, which can be downloaded from Play Market (Google Play). It's very easy to use. Launch the program on the smartphone from which you want to transfer the file.
In the center of the screen you will see a large red button that says “Press the button to start the server.” Let's press it.
An IP address will appear on the screen, which must be entered in the search bar of any browser or in Windows Explorer (My Computer).

There are other similar applications, but they all work on the same principle, so you can figure them out without much difficulty. The application works directly, without the use of servers and cloud storage.
Transferring files using the AirDroid app
Everything is simple here. You need to install the AirDroid application on your smartphone (tablet). You can download it on Google Play absolutely free. After launching the application, you will have to go through a simple registration.
Then open a browser (any browser) on your computer. In the search bar, enter the website address: web.airdroid.com. A window will appear on the screen, which is divided into two parts. On the left you can enter your username and password. There will be a QR code on the right. What we need is a QR code.
Now on your phone in the AirDroid application (after registration) you will see a line (at the very top) “Go to address”. Below there will be a link, and to the right of the link there will be a QR code icon. Click on this icon.
Now just point the gadget's camera at the QR code that is displayed on the computer screen.
The devices will automatically connect and a menu for managing and interacting with devices will open.
To download required file from your tablet to your computer, just click on the “Files” shortcut. Select the desired document or folder and click "Upload".
To send content from your computer to your smartphone, look at the right side of the menu in your browser. You will see the line “Download to...” and then there will be a path where the file or folder will be saved. You can change this path to your liking.
Even lower you will see the inscription “Drag files here”. If you drag the necessary documents into this window, they will be downloaded to your Android device.
But to the right you can click the “Send file” or “Send folder” button. A window will open in which you just need to select required content. Select it and click “Open”. Everything will be downloaded to the specified directory.

The speed, of course, is many times better than in the case of Bluetooth, but, nevertheless, a film, say one and a half gigs, will be transmitted for some time - about 10-15 minutes. The transfer speed fluctuates, in my practice, somewhere from 1.5 to 3 Mb/sec. First you need to start an FTP server on your device. We did this using convenient application My FTP Server. You can use it now, but since we have already installed ES Explorer, we will do everything through it. And it copes with this task no worse than My FTP Server.
1. Swipe from the left edge and in the “Network” section open “Remote access”.
2. You can start the server immediately. To do this, click “Enable”.
