Using the built-in taskbar search, start typing "screensaver" or "change screensaver" and you will see the following result:

Despite its simplicity, the screensaver has a lot of parameters: appearance ice can be customized in detail, it is even possible to specify the direction of the light rays.
By default, the Windows 10 screen saver works with the desktop, but in the settings you can instead set an image or a set of images (for example, photos) that will be covered with ice while the computer is idle.

This screensaver also affects your desktop in Windows 10, only it does not freeze, but floods it with rain or even submerges it under water. The effects - raindrops and waves, we note, are made very high quality. Obviously, for this reason, the options even have the ability to weaken their visual performance.
Initially, the screensaver launches a random action, but you can choose something specific. You can choose from light or heavy rain, three types of waves and storm. The Lost Watch is one of the most beautiful screensavers in our review, not only in terms of graphics, but also in general the idea itself. Here is the cutest pocket watch with a chain that ended up under water. Droplets of water fall from above, and tree leaves slowly float by.
The watch, despite its original location, always shows the exact time. They even have a working second hand. The current date and day of the week are also displayed.
In the settings you can specify the volume level, lower the graphics quality for not the most powerful computers, choose your own composition for background music and install a screensaver on the Windows 10 desktop. The final participant in our review is not even a screensaver, but a full-fledged creative application, the result of which, among other things, can be used as a screensaver. Photo! 3D Album offers several virtual locations - galleries, parks, beaches, where stands can display various paintings in neat frames.
These pictures can be images from your computer, be it any drawings or photographs. You can fit them at your discretion into the free frames that are hung around the locations. For convenience, there are options that “adjust” the picture so that it looks better in the frame.
Once everything is ready, you can launch any of the virtual worlds to which you added your images. Agree, this is many times more interesting than a regular slide show.
By default, the program “walks” there itself, looking at your illustrations, but by pressing F1 you will transfer control into your hands. This will almost resemble a computer game, where WSAD is used for movement, Shift for acceleration, etc. If you use Photo! 3D Album as a screensaver, then in its parameters you will see several additional options.

As we noted at the beginning, traditional screensavers are practically a thing of the past today, since specific functions there is no behind them, but on modern portable devices when the user is inactive, it is wiser to simply turn off the screen rather than waste the battery on a screensaver, especially if the latter itself also consumes a lot of resources.
On desktop PCs, where screen savers came to us, there are no such restrictions. However, screensavers still disappear, which is clearly seen in Windows 10, where screensaver settings are not even included in the main personalization options.

Standard screensavers are located in C:\Windows\System32\ and have the following names:
- Bubbles.scr
- Mystify.scr
- PhotoScreensaver.scr (Photo)
- Ribbons.scr
- scrnsave.scr (Form)
- ssText3d.scr (3D text)
If the screensaver is not working, check the following:
- Screen saver settings.
- If you use photos (pictures), delete all videos from the selected folder.
- You downloaded a corrupted file.
- The splash screen file (.scr) was not installed in the C:\Windows\System32\folder.

How to change the screensaver in Windows 7 starter and basic home
1. Open “Control Panel”, find and click on the “Display” option.

1. Click “Start”, enter “personalization” in the search bar (as in the picture, without quotes) and click on the entry you are entering from the list found.
2. A window with numerous settings will open in front of you. We are interested in the bottom block, where 4 personalization settings are located. Here you can, sound scheme, and of course the screensaver.
3. After which the window “ Screen saver options" In the “splash screen” block, select from the proposed screen saver options, then click on the “view” button and you will see how it will be displayed on the entire screen.
Note: Just press a keyboard key or move the mouse to stop preview.
Some pre-installed Windows screensavers 7 have their own settings, which you can open by clicking on the “options” button. Some screensavers may not have customizable options.
For example, if you want make a screensaver from your photos (pictures), then select “photos” from the proposed list of screensavers. Then click the “options” button, where you can adjust the slide show speed and select the folder with photos (pictures) by clicking the “browse” button. Specify the folder with the files and click OK. If you want the slide show to be random, then check the box where it says “random order of images” and click save. , if you want to improve the appearance of the OS.

How to change the screensaver through the Windows 7 registry
In addition to the methods described above, there is a manual method for changing the screensaver through the registry.
1. Press the key Windows icon+ R , type regedit and press Enter.
2. In the registry window, find the section located along the path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
3. In the Desktop section, find the SCRNSAVE.EXE element, double-click on it with the left button and in the window that opens for changing the string parameter in the “value” field, enter full path to the splash screen and click "ok".
For example C:\Windows\system32\Ribbons.scr
Important! There should be no spaces in the name of the screensaver title. If there are any, be sure to remove them.
If you suddenly do not find the SCRNSAVE.EXE parameter, then create it. Click on the right side of the registry window empty space and in the "create" menu, click "string parameter". Name it SCRNSAVE.EXE and press Enter. Then follow the steps described above (see point 3).
4. To set the time after which the screen saver will be displayed in Windows 7, find the ScreenSaveTimeOut parameter. Open it and set a numerical value in seconds and click “ok”. For example, a value of 600 is 10 minutes.
If you did not find the ScreenSaveTimeOut parameter, then create it according to the principle of creating the SCRNSAVE.EXE parameter described above.
5. After completing the steps, close the registry, wait a while and check the result.
Here are the ways you can change screensaver in Windows 7. All methods described above use standard OS capabilities without third party programs, and differs from the process, which I recommend familiarizing yourself with.
